TRAVEL | BIRTHDAY AT LOUVRE

Domenica 28 Febbraio è stato il mio quarto giorno a Parigi, nonchè il mio compleanno. E quale modo migliore di festeggiare se non nel museo più grande del mondo? Il Louvre è stato il mio splendido regalo di compleanno, uno di quelli che difficilmente ci si scorda. La mia visita è iniziata alle 10 del mattino e terminata alle 16. Estasi allo stato puro. Il pomeriggio sono andata a fare un'ultima passeggiata nelle isole e nel Quartiere Latino, un'oasi di pace e relax. La fine perfetta di un compleanno meraviglioso ed indimenticabile. e di un viaggio che mi ha arricchita e cambiata nel profondo. A presto, Parigi!

Sunday, February 28, was my fourth day in Paris and my birthday. And what better way to celebrate in the largest museum in the world? The Louvre was my wonderful birthday gift, one that I hardly forget. My visit began at 10am and ended at 4pm. Ecstasy pure. In the afternoon I went for a last walk in the islands and at the Latin Quarter, an oasis of peace and relax. The perfect end to a wonderful and unforgettable birthday. And to a trip that has enriched and changed me profoundly. See you soon, Paris!

Sacre Coeur

Sabato, quale giorno migliore per una passeggiate in Montmartre? I piccoli viali in salita sono ricchi di turisti, negozietti di souvenirs e piccole botteghe d'arte. E' il quartiere degli artisti: il mio preferito. E la basilica del Sacre Coeur ne è la regina assoluta e maestosa. Osserva tutto dalla sua collina, da cui si gode di una vista mozzafiato. E poi un salto, ma solo un salto, nel quartiere Pigalle per la classica foto al Moulin Rouge. La sera, invece, mi sono concessa una cena al Café Kléber in Place du Trocadéro. E per concludere il Sabato in bellezza, lo spettacolo della Tour Eiffel illuminata. Splendida Parigi. Così caotica da essere assolutamente intima e così aristocratica da risultare tremendamente romantica. La mia città.

Saturday, what better day for a walk in Montmartre? The small uphill streets are full of tourists, souvenir shops and small art shops. It's "the artists quarter": my favorite. And the Sacre Coeur is the absolute and majestic queen. It observes everything from its hill, which offers a breathtaking view. And then a jump, but only one, in the Pigalle district for classical photos to the Moulin Rouge. In the evening, I had dinner at Café Kléber in Place du Trocadéro. And to end Saturday in beauty, the spectacle of the illuminated Tour Eiffel. Beautiful Paris. So chaotic as to be absolutely intimate and so noble as to be terribly romantic. My city.

TRAVEL | SECOND DAY IN PARIS

Rue de Rivoli

Il mio secondo giorno a Parigi è stato magico. Una giornata full-immersion tra arte ed architettura. Dapprima la splendida Tour Eiffel, il magico simbolo di Parigi. Imponente e spettacolare. Circa 700 gradini a piedi per arrivare al secondo piano, godere di una vista mozzafiato, per poi prendere l'ascensore panoramico e salire fino all'ultimo piano. Successivamente l'Arc de Triomphe ed una breve pausa sugli Champs-Elysées. Il Grand Palais ed il Petite Palais, uno di fronte all'altro. Il Pont Alexandre III, con le sue statue dorate, Place de la Concorde e l'obelisco. Rue Cambon fino al n°31, quartier generale della Maison Chanel e primissimo studio di Cocò. Place Vendome con le sue gioiellerie di lusso, fino a Boulevard Haussmann, l'Opéra de Paris e le immense Galerìes Lafayette. Una giornata intera di scoperte e meraviglie, fatta di passeggiate romantiche, cafè au lait in diversi bistrot, vetrine, arte e storia. Tutto ciò che mi serve per essere sinceramente felice.

My second day in Paris was magical. A full-immersion day between art and architecture. At first the beautiful Tour Eiffel, magic symbol of Paris. Impressive and spectacular. About 700 steps to walk to the second floor, enjoy a breathtaking view, and then take the panoramic lift and climb to the top. Subsequently, the Arc de Triomphe and a short break on the Champs-Elysées. The Grand Palais and the Petit Palais, facing each other. The Pont Alexandre III, with its golden statues, Place de la Concorde and the obelisk. Rue Cambon up to n°31, the Chanel headquarter and the very first study of Coco. Place Vendome with its luxury jewelers, up to Boulevard Haussmann, the Opéra de Paris and the immense Galerìes Lafayette. A full day of discoveries and wonders, made of romantic walks, café au lait in several bistrot, shop windows, art and history. All I need to be genuinely happy.

TRAVEL | FIRST DAY IN PARIS

Notre-Dame

Tornata dal mio viaggio di cinque giorni a Parigi, posso dire con sicurezza di non essere più la stessa. Sarei voluta rimanere per sempre. Cosa che non escludo completamente. Al mio arrivo ho trovato una giornata splendida: il sole illuminava tutti i meravigliosi palazzi e l'aria era frizzante ma piacevole. Il primo giorno mi sono dedicata alla parte Sud della città: le due isole sulla Senna, l'Ile de la Cité con la cattedrale di Notre-Dame e l'Ile Saint-Louis, il Quartiere Latino, la Sorbonne, il Pantheon, i Jardin du Luxembourg, una passeggiata in Saint-German-des-Prés ed un cappuccino al Café de Flore. E mi sono innamorata. Perchè Parigi è una città che ti ruba l'anima e te la restituisce poco dopo molto più leggera, molto più spensierata. La città delle luci sfavillanti, la città della vie en rose, la città dei ponti e dell'amore.

Returning from my five-day trip to Paris, I can truly say I'm no longer the same. I would have wanted to stay there forever. Something that I don't exclude completely. On my arrival I found a beautiful day, the sun shone all the beautiful buildings and the air was drizzly but pleasant. The first day I visited the southern part of the city: the two islands on the Seine, Ile de la Cité with Notre-Dame and Ile Saint-Louis, the Latin Quarter, the Sorbonne, the Pantheon, the Jardin du Luxembourg, a walk in Saint-Germain-des-Prés and a cappuccino at Café de Flore. And I fell in love. Because Paris is a city that steals your soul and return it much lighter, much more carefree. The city of bright lights, the city of la vie en rose, the city of bridges and the city of love.

TRAVEL | RANDOM FROM HOLIDAYS

La mia vacanza. Nessun paradiso tropicale o viaggio dall'altra parte del mondo. Una casetta nelle Marche, regione che ho molto apprezzato. Tanto sole, pure troppo. Poco mare (scusate, ma sono abituata all'acqua della Corsica). Due settimane di relax e pace, fuori da tutto il caos della mia vita e lontana dalla mia amata Torino. E voi come avete passato le ferie o come le passerete?

My holidays. No tropical paradise or travel halfway around the world. A little house in the Marche, a region which I really appreciated. Lots of sun, well too. Shortly sea (sorry, but I'm used to the water of Corsica). And much love. Two weeks of relaxation and peace, out of all the chaos of my life and away from my beloved Turin. And how did you spend the holidays or how you will spend?
